Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead
at Cal State Long Beach

11am-4:30pm at The Anatol Center
Join us for ofrenda/altars, poetry and performances, etc. as The Anatol will be open throughout the day for class visits and for the campus community to visit and learn.
Groups/Classes/Individuals can also propose altars for that day.
We would love it if you would consider bringing your classes on that day with specific asks of attendance, promotion, and/or a creation of an ofrenda or performance or art piece/info graphic, etc. with your students (themed poetry, small nicho altars, or individual/class altar creations).

We are hosting National Heritage fellow and sixth generation altar maker Ofelia Esparza to share about her family’s tradition of creating ofrendas on Thursday, October 17th at 11am at the Anatol Center. Tuesday, October 29th, 11am-4:30pm at The Anatol Center
All students, classes, staff, and faculty are encouraged to attend both.
This program is sponsored by the Scholarly Intersection Grant and is organized in collaboration Patricia Amezcua of RGRLL, Felicia Montes of CHLS, Gabriel Estrada of RST, Alondra of the Latine Center and student groups like CHLSSA (CHLS Student Association), SGSA (Spanish Graduate Student Association), the Latinx Faculty & Staff Association and more.
